The Southern Sporting Car Club was formed in 1954 making it one of Sydney's oldest surviving car clubs. Being a CAMS affiliated club we are able to participate in, organise and run our own motor sport events. Some of these events include; ... * Supersprints and Lap Dashes at Eastern Creek, Oran Park and Wakefield Park motor racing circuits ... * Hill Climbs. These are usually held on public roads which are closed for the event. ... * Motorkhanas, which are held on grass, dirt and hotmix surfaces. These courses use witches hats and flags as markers. ... * Khanacross, which are typically held on narrow dirt roads and bush tracks. These courses use trees as markers. ... * Driver Training Days at racing circuits like Wakefield Park in Goulburn ... * Social Trials or Navigational Trials We also have a variety of social events to keep everyone in the family involved, interested and happy. Social events are a very relaxing way to enjoy the company of others in the club and a great way to meet people with similar interests to yourself. Our various social events come in the form of; ... * Picnic Days ... * Drive Days where we meet for lunch ... * Trivia Nights ... * Our General Meetings or 'Club Nights' as we call them, at Club Menai ... * A Christmas picnic for the kids where we try to get Santa along ... * An end of year Presentation Night We run a Club Championship pointscore series each year, covering a variety of event types, including both circuit and non circuit. Our competition series caters for standard road cars as well as race cars, and novice drivers are also catered for.
